After a slow start to the season that included going 0-4 in their first matches, the NFV girls’ bowling team won its fourth straight on Tuesday (Feb. 9) over Sumner-Fredericksburg to improve to 4-4 on the season. The boys’ team fell to 4-4 as well after being defeated by the Cougars.

The TigerHawks have two moving on to the 2021 State Wrestling Tournament this week as Nick Koch (120) and Kale Rodgers (182) each placed in the top two at Districts.

“Overall, I felt we had a very good day – we almost had a perfect day,” said coach Jacob Pedersen on his team’s performance on Saturday in New Hampton.

It's drive-through for Clermont Fish Fry

 

The annual Clermont Fire and Rescue Fish Fry fundraiser will be held from 4:30-8 p.m. on Friday, February 19.  

While the event is a long-standing tradition in the community, this year it will be a little different forgoing the usual get-together event for a drive-through only meal.  

The meals, which will include fish, tarter sauce, fries, corn, and a bun, will be served to the community at the Clermont Fire Station.  Meals will be $10 each.  Watch for signs to lead you in the right direction!

After rescheduling twice, and weeks of record-breaking lows, West Union’s WinterFest is finally ready to go!      

The second annual event was scheduled to take place earlier this month but had been postponed twice due to record cold temperatures.  

The event will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Saturday, February 20.

It has been popping up in neighboring communities for some time, and now, Hawkeye Telephone Company is bringing its fiber optic network to West Union.

“This is available to anyone in the city limits,” said Hawkeye Telephone employee Brittney Ihde of the expansion. “Getting the fiber installed to a home or business will be at no cost to the owner. All they have to do is call or email us to get on the list.”
