Jamie Solheim

 

Jamie Lee Solheim, 50, of Randalia, Iowa died Monday, November 30, 2020 at University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. Jamie was born September 23, 1970 to Donald and Kathryn (Heins) Solheim in Postville, Iowa. He graduated from North Fayette High School in 1989.

Throughout the years, Jamie worked as an Auto Body Man and Carpenter. He was the “Best Dry-Waller around”. Jamie enjoyed motor cross, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, camping, and TJs pizza. He was good-hearted and loved by all, especially by the nieces and nephews because he was always the “funny one”. He was a jokester and liked to give joke gifts at Christmas. Jamie enjoyed cooking, he always called his mom for recipes.  He will be greatly missed by his children, dad and mom, brothers, and sister, nieces and nephews, and all who knew him. We love you Jamie.

Blue Devil girls get UIC win in week 1 of season

The Blue Devil girls got their season started last week as the team went 1-2, including a conference win over South Winneshiek.

The first game of season was Monday night, Nov. 30, against the Waterloo Christian Regents as the two teams went to double overtime to determine the winner.

The North Fayette Valley boys’ and girls’ bowling teams got their 2020-2021 season underway Friday afternoon as they hosted Tripoli at Lilac Lanes in West Union.

Despite the girls having one of the most impressive showings in school history, they came up short to Tripoli while the boys put together a strong meet and picked up the win.

The North Fayette Valley wrestling team saw its first action of the season over the weekend as the TigerHawks took first place at the Jesup Tournament on Saturday.

“Overall, it was a good start to the year for the team,” said coach Jacob Pedersen after his team scored 223 points to take first place. “It’s always great to come out on top!”

New fair fence will heighten appearance

That’s how much fence is needed to cover the west side of the Fayette County Fairgrounds.

The old tin privacy type fence that was there, maybe since the fair was started, is now long gone. Originally built to keep gawkers from getting free shows from Highway 150, a brand new clean white vinyl fence is going up in its place.

Jeff Cline of rural Elgin hadn’t given blood for 35 or more years and hadn’t thought about it much since then, but contracting the Covid-19 virus changed all that.

Cline contracted the Covid-19 virus in October. He got sick, not deathly, but sick enough to know that the virus was not something that anyone would want to have and that for some people it could be a killer.
