The North Fayette Valley bowling team took to the lanes for its second matchup of the season Friday afternoon as the boys’ and girls’ teams took on Charles City.

“Despite the girls and boys continuing to set new school records, it just wasn’t enough to beat Charles City,” said coach Leland Ellis after the meet. “Charles City is consistently one of the best programs in the state, and this year is no different.”

The North Fayette Valley girls continue to impress on the court this winter as they added two more wins to their resume over Turkey Valley and Central last week. The team now sits at 4-0 and atop the Upper Iowa Conference standings.

On Thursday evening, the NFV wrestlers headed to Center Point-Urbana where it went 2-1 in dual action, beating the host Stormin’ Pointers and East Buchannan and falling to a strong Independence squad.

In the first dual, the TigerHawks fell by a final of 61-15 to the Independence Mustangs. Nick Koch (126) came out on top of an 8-2 decision to start the dual off right.

New Fayette police officer is former jailer

Officer Olivia Hake is Fayette’s newest police officer.

Officer Hake comes to Fayette by way of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Detention Section where she served as a jailer and senior detention officer. She started working for the Department last week doing her field training operations.

It started out as a way to help fund a bright idea, but within a few years, it has grown into one of the areas most beloved displays.

Each year, West Union’s Festival of Lights, located at the West Union Rec Center draws many on-lookers as they drive through the one-of-a-kind Festival of Lights.  

While much of the display reflects the joy of the holiday season, there is an area that is dedicated to remembering those we have lost.

Carol Katsumes has long been a regular donor at the Elgin community blood drives.  

This month, however, was a little bit different as she learned that her blood contained something valuable and unique – COVID19 antibodies.
