The term “you’re never too old” couldn’t fit the iron bridge that now crosses Edge Road about five miles northwest of Elgin, any better.

The Fayette County Secondary Road Department recently gave the bridge a new home. This is now one of three it has had since it was first placed in Fayette County 100 years ago.

Tradition: Big part of Norwegian Meat Ball Dinner in Elgin

"Veldig deilig" means very delicious in Norwegian.

It appears that the congregation at Elgin Lutheran Church have lots of things “veldig deilig” coming your way this Sunday, Nov. 8, when they host the annual Norwegian Meatball Dinner.

Most of us are familiar with meatballs in one flavor, size, shape, or another, although these are made from a special Norwegian recipe, but how many of us can say lefse, krumkake, rosettes or sprintz cookies are a part of our dining repertoire? Those are all special Norwegian treats that are made annually for the dinner by members of the congregation.

One such member is Darlene Johnson. Darlene has been involved with helping in the dinner preparation since it was started in 2007.
