Many Iowan’s, including Fayette County residents, have been noticing something different, something a little bit darker than the regular on state roads and highways as the states newest license plate design, “blackout” plates have become remarkably popular since their introduction this summer.

According to the Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT) website, when the non-personalized versions of the black and white plates accessible at local county treasurer's offices in September, it barely took a week for them to sell out or run low in most of those counties, as many needed to be restocked the following week.

“They are pretty popular,” smiled Fayette County Treasurer, Kyle Jacobsen of the new design.  “I think people like how simple they are.”

This weekend, the North Fayette Valley high school will be performing Legally Blonde, The Musical.

Premiering Friday evening, November 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the NFV Performing Arts Center, this year’s fall musical will be full of laughter, a few tears, a lot of gossip and plenty of self-discovery as Elle Woods (Emma Pleggenkuhle) takes herself on a journey to Harvard in order to try and win back her former boyfriend, Warner.

Elle, a “typical” sorority girl who is full of energy, beauty tips and always clad in pink, decides to enroll into Harvard Law School when she hears her college boyfriend, Warner, is headed there himself.
