Boys' golf to Districts

NFV boy’s golf knew it had a stern challenge at the Sectional Golf Tournament Friday in New Hampton. There were four ranked teams, and only two could advance, three if the host Chickasaws, ranked sixth, would win.

  At the end of the 18-hole tourney, New Hampton did win with a 326. 

However, the 12^th-ranked TigerHawks earned second place by four strokes, 351-355, over unranked Lake Mills. That meant 11^th-ranked Sumner-Fred, and 23^rd-ranked Forest City will be staying home this Friday as NFV competes in District action for the right to go to the State Golf Tournament Thursday and Friday, May 23-24.

Boys 2nd at State Qualifying Meet

After finishing second in the 10-team field at the State Qualifying Meet (SQM) in Monticello, the NFV boy’s will be sending eight events to the State Track Meet in Des Moines this Thursday through Saturday. The SQM was moved from Thursday to Friday because of the weather. 

  The TigerHawks finished second to powerhouse Bellevue, but amassed 88 points without earning a single point in the field events, and only winning one event.

After spending a lot of hours painting and remodeling its new spot, the Woodland Eye Clinic in West Union recently opened the doors to its new home at 104 N. A new view for Woodland Eye Clinic

“We shut our doors Friday evening and spent the weekend moving everything upstairs,” laughed Joshua Woodland, OD of how his West Union practice made the transition to its newly remodeled home at 104 N. Walnut St. in West Union earlier this month.

“We had the same amount of space in our downstairs offices that we have up here, but upstairs here is such a better space,” continued Woodland.  “There were no windows at the other location.  Up here, we have windows making it so much more open, airy and comfortable!” 

It was a project that began slowly overtime, when the Woodland Eye Clinic of West Union decided to take advantage of the office space that had recently opened up just above the West Union offices.
