Gundersen Palmer un-veils new outdoor lobby

Chris DeBack

Area residents have a new place to hangout while they wait for their name to be called at the Gundersen Palmer Lutheran West Union Clinic.

Gundersen Palmer’s new outdoor lobby will be the perfect place for clinic goers, hospital patients, hospice patients, or patients’ family members to enjoy some sun this summer while at the local hospital. It is located just on the backside of the glass vestibule that connects the hospital and clinic.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the outdoor lobby will take place at 8:45 a.m. Saturday, May 11, before the start of the Gundersen Palmer Lutheran Hospital and Clinics “Fun” Walk/Run 5K in West Union.

At Decorah’s most recent city council meeting, Monday, May 6, council members unanimously approved a development agreement that will assist with the renovation of the former Quillin’s for a brand-new Hy-Vee grocery store.

The agreement states that Ridge Development Company out of Cedar Rapids will receive TIF (tax increment finance) rebates from the city for up to $425,000 for the renovations if Hy-Vee agrees to sign a 10-year lease for the property.

There is no current timeline available for when the new Hy-Vee store will open.
