The City of West Union met with representatives from Unilock and Culvers on Thursday, May 23, to continue discussions about why pavers are failing in West Union’s downtown district.
Adam Keller, mayor; Kennon Gumm, city councilman; Nick McIntyre, city administrator; and Jon Biederman, Fehr Graham Engineering, walked around South Vine Street by Biederman’s office and Elm Street by Winers with Brad Punke, Unilock territory manager; and Nick Jensen, Culver’s Lawn and Landscaping project manager, to show them the extent to which the pavers continue to fail.
During the short tour, Punke was able to take pictures of the failing pavers. McIntyre noted to him that they used to host a lot of tours of the Streetscape project, but that the City has started turning tours away because of the conditions of the pavers.
“It’s like this all over,” McIntyre said to Punke as they looked at some Pavers on Elm Street. “We are seeing a higher-failure rate and that’s why we wanted to have another conversation.”
