President Duffy's leadership defines UIU's success

In 2013, William Duffy became president of Upper Iowa University and was immediately met with a significant deficit. UIU overcame that challenge and produced a balanced budget within three years. It’s been his leadership that has helped push UIU in a positive direction with a bright future ahead of it.  Chris DeBack photo

It has been five years since William Duffy was named the 21st president of Upper Iowa University.

Those five years have been rife with challenges, which have ultimately made the university stronger today and put it in a better position for the future. This year, UIU saw an increase in enrollment on its Fayette campus that is coupled with healthy enrollments in its online programs and at its numerous external locations.

Duffy’s leadership has helped guide UIU to a stable financial situation, increased academic oversight as well as greater internal and external compliance. However, President Duffy will be the first to admit that his staff should be given more credit and receive greater praise than him. He also said his wife, Sharon, has been highly involved over the last five years.
