The $569,566.05 project completed by Wicks Construction of Decorah is just part of approximately $1.6 million the Supervisors have spent on improvements to the courthouse over the last few years. The other projects completed, with approximate costs, include tuckpointing the building ($118,000), new windows and fixing the courthouse dome ($550,000), and installing geothermal heating and cooling ($400,000) throughout the building.

For nearly 20 years, those visiting the local Fayette County Treasurer’s Office have encountered a familiar face in Kyle Jacobsen, the county’s current treasurer.

“I decided to run for the first time in 1998, not too far from the actual election,” the longtime treasurer recalled.

“There were a few concerns I had with how things were being done at the time,” he explained.  “After months of concern, it occurred to me that maybe I should do something about it.  So, I decided to run for treasurer.”

The Warriors improved to 3-1 on the season and 2-0 in district play after Friday night’s 49-0 Homecoming win over Starmont.

In a game that lasted only 24 minutes due to the Stars forfeiting after halftime, South Winn was rolling in all aspects of the game.

“We had a nice balanced attack on offense, we created five turnovers on defense, and we blocked a couple of punts (on special teams),” said head coach Jason Ohrt after the win. “Overall, this was a nice win.”
