Craig's recovery swift and remarkable

A recent photo shows a happy Natalie Craig (left) with her daughter, Tava, and her late fiancé, Blake Bublitz. Bublitz and Craig were returning May 7 from a benefit motorcycle ride, when Blake lost control of his bike around a sharp corner. Craig was hospitalized for 10 days, but Bublitz didn’t survive the accident.

Natalie Craig has been called many things over the course of her life; now she can add survivor and miracle child to her list.

Craig and her fiancé, Blake Bublitz, were attending “Ride for Jay” on May 7. It was a benefit motorcycle ride to raise money for the couple's friend Jay Maloney, who had been diagnosed with cancer recently.

After the ride concluded, the couple headed for home in Eau Claire, Wis. At approximately 9:30 p.m., as the couple came around a sharp corner, Bublitz lost control of the motorcycle. Craig, who was on the back of the bike, was thrown 50 feet through the air, landing on a hillside and falling backwards into a ditch.

A local couple came upon the scene about four miles from Eau Claire and found Blake unresponsive underneath the backend of the motorcycle. The husband immediately began CPR on him but it wasn’t until the wife heard Natalie crying from the ditch that they realized he wasn’t alone. She rushed to Craig’s side; Natalie was responsive and talking.
