Ryan Zurbriggen is ready to face his next challenge head-on. It will come in the form of hundreds of children as he takes over as principal at Darling Elementary School in Postville. The Postville school board approved the hire at its March 14 meeting.

Currently, Zurbriggen serves as curriculum director for the Postville school district. Having such a familiarity with the very diverse district will only serve to benefit him during his transition next fall.

With a squad of just seven girls, the West Central girls’ track and field team will have an uphill battle to be competitive this season.

However, 11th-year head coach Randy Fink acknowledged that with hard work, this group of girls is capable of competing night in and night out.

“We have a small but very hardworking group with a positive attitude most of the time,” Fink said. “It will be tough to score as a team, but we plan to get off the bus and perform to the best of our abilities every time out.”
