Lilac Lanes Bowling Center in West Union was recently honored for being a member of the Iowa Bowling Proprietors Association (IBPA) for 55 years.

This is an accomplishment of which  current Lilac Lanes owner Ron Bills said everyone can be proud.

“[I went] down to Des Moines to receive a certificate on behalf of everybody that has run the center and the people that have supported it to keep us a member for those 55 years,” Bills said.

Since the bowling center opened in 1959, it has had a number of different owners, the first of which was West Union’s “Mr. Bowler” Ron Granneman.
