These aren’t the same Blue Devils’ of years past. These girls don’t just roll over and die once they get down by a significant amount. North Fayette Valley learned that lesson fairly quickly Thursday night, June 25.

With NFV holding an 8-3 lead in the fifth inning, West Central (9-20) stormed back with nine runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 12-8 lead.

TigerHawk baseball has perfect week

The Crestwood catcher has the ball, but it’s far too late as Tanner Kuhens slides across the plate for one of the three runs the NFV sophomore scored in the doubleheader on Tuesday, June 23. Saturday, he scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh against A-P when Dave Jellings legged out an infield hit. (Kris Van Sickle photo)

A little rain did not stop the Parks & Rec Eighth Annual West Union Triathlon Sunday at the Aquatic Center.

A steady rain fell until early in the morning, but there was only light rain falling when the race kicked off at 8 a.m. The showers stopped for most of the race before returning later in the event, but they did not turn into thunder and lightning until after the all of the participants had left.

The runners, bikers, and swimmers did not seem to mind. As Matt Appler said afterwards, “Once you got a little wet, it wasn’t bad. I was just glad that it wasn’t hot and muggy.”

A week before the race, only 39 people had registered, but 51 applications poured in the final week to bring the total number of participants to 90.
