Congregate Meals for area senior citizens are served on the following days at the locations listed (home delivery is also available):

WEST UNION – Monday through Friday, Senior Center on Armour St.

ARLINGTON – Wednes- day and Friday, Arlington Library basement.

CLERMONT – Monday and Friday, West Clermont Lutheran Church. 

ELGIN – Tuesday and Thursday, Elgin Community Bldg./AMVETS Hall.

HAWKEYE – Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Hawkeye Community Hall.

ST. LUCAS – Monday and Wednesday, St. Lucas Community Hall.

Lein services set for Aug. 31

James M. Lein, 73, of Arlington died Aug. 23, 2013, of hypersensitivity pneumonitis at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waverly with burial in the church cemetery. 

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Maynard and for an hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly is in charge of arrangements. 

Josie Ann Michael

John and Stephanie Michael of Hawkeye are excited to announce the birth of their second child, Josie Ann Michael, who was born July 22, 2013, at Palmer Lutheran Health Center in West Union.  She weighed 9 lbs. 4 oz. and was 21 inches long at birth.  

Josie joins her big brother, Jack, at home. 

  Maternal grandparents are Matt and Kathy Gordish of Oelwein.  Paternal grandparents are Roger and Karen Michael of West Union.  

Maternal great-grandparents are Alberta Heitland of Oelwein and the late Jim Baker, Forest Heitland, Andy and Eunice Gordish.  Paternal great-grandparents are Elizabeth Heiserman of Independence and the late Roger Heiserman, Ted and Agnes Michael.
